KOMEWELLS FOUNDATION CARE VISIT

Our Visit to Pa – A Man Battling Kidney Disease and Multiple Health Challenges

Today, the Kome Wells Foundation team paid a compassionate visit to an elderly man referred from Ughelli General Hospital to a hospital in Warri for proper medical attention but was unfortunately brought back home by his family due to financial constraints.

The case came to the attention of the Chairman/CEO of Kome Wells Foundation, Comr. Kome Wellington — a renowned Isoko-born philanthropist — who immediately instructed the Foundation’s medical team to visit, assess his condition, and determine how the Foundation could offer assistance.

Upon arrival, the team met Pa, who shared his touching story. About six years ago, he fell from a palm tree while climbing, resulting in severe spinal cord and leg injuries. Since then, he has been bedridden, unable to sit or stand for several years, and was cared for daily by his devoted wife. Recently, he regained limited mobility and can now sit and walk slowly with the help of a walking stick.

However, his health challenges worsened over time as he began to suffer from vision problems, diabetes, ulcer, high blood pressure, and kidney disease—all confirmed through various laboratory tests.

Pa explained that while his blood pressure and sugar levels have slightly improved, the kidney and eye conditions remain serious. Due to lack of funds, he has resorted to using herbal remedies prescribed by a local herbalist, which he takes hourly to manage the swelling and discomfort caused by the kidney ailment.

During the visit, the Kome Wells Foundation Medical Department (Nurses) conducted fresh blood pressure and sugar tests, and the results indicated both levels were still critically high.

After a thorough assessment, the team concluded that what Pa urgently needs is financial support to access proper medical treatment and professional healthcare.

At Kome Wells Foundation, we remain committed to reaching out to the sick, the vulnerable, and the less privileged—bringing hope and support where it’s most needed.
